Bereshit/Genesis Chapter 19 Part C – Sodom, Gomorrah, Moab, Ammon and the Seed of Abraham

Welcome

First posted MAY 11, 2019

Sodom and Gomorrah, cities in the plain. Moab and Ammon, nations they became. Two cities, two nations that have connections to Israel (Northern and Southern Kingdoms), and the end time transition back to the united kingdom of Israel in the rulership of The Anointed One. As Abraham and Lot are tied at the hip, so too are their dependants. Abraham had much love for his nephew, a man who could have filled the role of his son if he had his way. Abraham represents stability whereas, Lot portrayed uncertainty, indecision and unwise choices. But YHWH Elohim loved them both and showed Lot mercy on account of his uncle Abraham. Lot’s sons, Moab and Ammon, were born out of chaos and poor judgement. But YHWH Elohim considered them because of their father Lot. Moab and Ammon are tied to “Israel and Judah”, “Sodom and Gomorrah” and events to unfold for the end time. This presentation focuses on parallels between the doomed cities of Sodom and Gomorrah with connections to the children of Abraham and Lot and our current generation. Sodom and Gomorrah is presented in this third study of Genesis 19 because of the expansiveness of the topic and a mere gloss in the previous studies would not suffice. This topic is important given the signs of the times, and the command from the Anointed One about the faithful watching and praying. This presentation is a guide towards additional study on YHWH Elohim judgement related through his prophets.

The Location of Sodom and Gomorrah: Ron Wyatt’s Discoveries

Where is Sodom & Gomorrah?

The Jordan River Basin is the water course way that fed the regions of Sodom and Gomorrah. Due to the cataclysmic event, nothing grows and the area has a high mineral content. This body of water is essential to the geo-political entities that now border that location and as such been one of the contentious issues that leads to conflict.

Where is Moab and Ammon, and are these people still living?

Due to the never ending conflicts, food crisis, historical facts and other destabilizing forces, people, places and cultures keep changing as one would change underwear. As a form of punishment, exile is used to shift people around and stifle national sentiment. The peoples of Moab and Ammon, though on the tongues of people as a byword, there are visible signs of their modem existence and they are not forgotten by the Elohim who see everything.

Truly, I say to you, it shall be more tolerable on the day of judgment for the land of Sodom and Gomor’rah than for that town.
  • In Matthew 11:20–24, Jesus prophesies the fate of some cities where he did some of his works (RSV): And you, Caper’na-um, will you be exalted to heaven? You shall be brought down to Hades. Extra Biblical – Deuterocanon

  • Wisdom 10:6–8 refers to the Five Cities: Wisdom rescued a righteous man when the ungodly were perishing; he escaped the fire that descended on the Five Cities. Evidence of their wickedness still remains: a continually smoking wasteland, plants bearing fruit that does not ripen, and a pillar of salt standing as a monument to an unbelieving soul. For because they passed wisdom by, they not only were hindered from recognizing the good, but also left for mankind a reminder of their folly, so that their failures could never go unnoticed.

  • In 3 Maccabees 2:5, the high priest Simon says that God “consumed with fire and sulphur the men of Sodom who acted arrogantly, who were notorious for their vices; and you made them an example to those who should come afterward”.
  • 2 Esdras 2:8–9 says “Woe to you, Assyria, who conceal the unrighteous in your midst! O wicked nation, remember what I did to Sodom and Gomor′rah, whose land lies in lumps of pitch and heaps of ashes. So will I do to those who have not listened to me, says the Lord Almighty.”
  • 2 Esdras 5:1–13 describes signs of the end times, one of which is that “the sea of Sodom shall cast up fish”.

Putting things into perspective

The narratives that encompasses the Torah, Prophets and OT/NT writings must be viewed and assessed collectively as a continuous, and contiguous, message to the readers it is intended for. The Sodom, Gomorrah, Moab and Ammon narratives, should not be viewed in isolation, or an OT/NT paradigm. Rest assured that Moab and the other nations are a part of the fulfillment of end time prophecies and would be fulfilled at the choosing of YHWH Elohim.
