Bereshit/Genesis Chapter 19 Part B – Escape from Punishment

Welcome

First posted MAY 11, 2019

Unlike his uncle Abraham, who negotiates with YHWH Elohim for the potential righteous living in the cities, Lot bargained with the messengers for favor to flee to one of the cities that was slated for punishment. He was told to flee to the mountains for safety, but opted to be held up in a city that was close by. The messengers granted Lot permission to make his way to the city and it was spared from punishment. Once Lot, his wife and daughters left the city of Sodom, fire rained from the sky changing the landscape of the plains that was compared to being “well watered like the garden.” Tragedy struck this family when his wife disobeyed the instruction given by the messengers about ‘LOOKING BACK’. But Lot and his daughters kept moving ahead. Fearing for his life in the city he was held up at, Lot then decided to head to the mountains where the situation took a morbid and unexpected turn.
