Bereshit/Genesis Chapter 24 – A wife for my Beloved son Part 3

Welcome

First posted NOVEMBER 5, 2019

Isaac is now married. His wife is now part of his life. Rebecca made the decision to leave her mother’s house with a stranger, into a land of many unknowns. No longer a city girl, she is about to embark on the nomadic lifestyle with a husband who is quite content with the rigor of desert living. The servant, Eliezer, was faithful in carrying out the wishes of his master Abraham, and his way was prospered by YHWH Elohim. The servant made it a point to worship YHWH every moment he got showing gratitude that his mission was successful. Isaac is reaping the reward of YHWH promises and looking forward to building a life with his wife Rebecca. The actions of Abraham’s servant towards worship shows the heart of a man who is dedicated to fulfilling his masters wishes, and paying respect to the Holy Creator YHWH in a way that truly honors Him.

Supporting News Items

When YHWH Elohim is ready to return the exiles of Israel, he would do it by His strength and in His time. In the meantime, aircrafts would do.

Who is in charge?

Rebecca seems to be fatherless until he suddenly appears to give consent to her marriage. Though not too much of an issue, it is important to understand why he is absent and not taking charge of his house. One source, The Torah: Rebecca, dived into this issue albeit with a rabbinic perspective which Team D does not agree with. But the point in highlighting this source is to show that even the insignificant should be given equal study as the ‘weightier matters‘ of the scriptures.

No veil of secrecy

When Rebecca saw Isaac for the first time, before their close encounter, she affixed her veil before the contact. For the journey, she was unveiled in the caravan, but suddenly on arrival decided to put it on. Head coverings and veils for women is a contentious issue for some. But, Rebecca only veiled herself to meet her husband to become one with him.
